As well as his normal work at gigs, and teaching music, John Bousfield is involved in many projects.
Current Projects
- Developing basic musical skills for GCSE students;
- Broadening the repertoire of ‘That Horn Swings’ to include more Latin and Funk material, more complex rhythmic changes, and working on classic arrangements and solos;
- Rehearsing a band to play the Harry Gold scores of his ‘Pieces of Eight’;
- Reworking the saxophone quartet to play more adventurous material;
- Working on the History of Glee Societies in West Yorkshire. My father-in-law, Albert Hearn, was conductor of various musical unions, and began this project before his death. I have now started to work on his notes.
